Erie, PA – The Penn State Behrend men’s soccer team defeated Pitt-Bradford 4-1 in conference play Tuesday, to continue their undefeated streak in the AMCC.

Brian Bodnar and Jerry Tortella teamed up to score the first goal for the Lions (8-2-3, 4-0 AMCC) just 13 minutes into the game. Tortella placed a perfect ball just outside the box to Bodnar who connected to put Behrend up 1-nil.

The second half would prove to be much more exciting. Aaron Meehl in his first goal of the match tallied on a header sent past Panther’s (5-5-2, 3-2-1 AMCC) goalie Adam Forster, the goal was assisted by Joshua Teti which gave Behrend a 2-0 lead.

Bradford’s John Lubarski not giving up, scored in the 61st minute to put the Panthers down 2-1, and that was the closest they would get for the afternoon.

With 20 minutes left to play, a goal double assisted by Meehl and Eric Vunovic was hammered home by Lions forward Jake Gamble. Meehl in one of his best games of the season went on to score the final goal in the 71st minute to seal the game at 4-1.

Behrend’s defense also played great only giving up 3 shots on goal and holding the Panthers to one corner kick.

The men will return to action Thursday October 14 to take on reigning AMCC Champions Medaille at 3 p.m.
