ERIE, Pa. - Penn State Behrend head baseball coach Paul Benim is listed among the winningest active coaches in the NCAA's Division III according to statistics recently released by the organization.
With 16 seasons under his belt, Benim has accumulated over 400 victories ranking in the top 50 of active coaches at the Division III level. Benim's win percentage of .630 ranks him 43rd and his 412 career victories make him 46th.
Since taking over in 1996, Benim has won four Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championships, including the AMCC's only 'three-peat'. He also guided the Lions to back-to-back Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships in 2002 and 2003.
In 2010, Benim led Behrend to the school's first-ever NCAA Tournament victories. The Lions defeated No. 3 Wooster and Thomas More before falling to nationally-ranked Heidelberg and Marietta.
Behrend will travel to Fort Pierce, Florida for a doubleheader against Ursinus on March 4 to start the season.
