Men's Basketball Improves to 5-2 in League With Win Over the Barons

The Behrend Lions earned another league win at home on Saturday, January 17, with a 72-50 victory over the Franciscan Barons. With the win, Behrend etched a 5-2 mark at home and now has an identical mark in the very competitive AMCC.

At the 4:23 mark of the first period, Drew Seker (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) made a steal and driving lay-up to push Behrend's lead to 28-13. In the next possession, Seker found a cutting Adam Potter (Pittsburgh/Mt. Lebanon) for an assist. After a Baron turnover, Seker then passed to Adam Kaiser (Erie/Cathedral Prep) who connected for his third three-pointer of the half and created a 33-16 lead. Behrend, who is ranked second in the AMCC in scoring defense at 60.5 ppg, took a 36-21 lead into halftime.

Behrend outscored Franciscan 36-29 over the second twenty minutes to pick-up the twenty-two point win.

Kaiser led the offense with 16 points, while Nick Colella (Newcastle/Newcastle) provided a spark off the bench and added 12 points and six boards in 13 minutes of work. Also in double-digits for the blue and white were Potter with 11, and Seker had 10 points and a team-high nine rebounds. As a team, Behrend hit 47% from the field and made ten of fifteen from the line. The Baron's were led by Josh Ducoulombier's ten point, twelve rebound performance.

The blue and white will travel to Pitt-Bradford on Monday, January 19 at 8:00 p.m.  The Behrend Lions will then be back in the Junker Center on Thursday, January 22 to take on the League leading La Roche Redhawks.  This game will mark the half way point in the conference regular season.
