Behrend Lions Avenge Loss to Altoona to Stay Atop the AMCC

It was a battle to stay atop the AMCC leaderboard as the Penn State Altoona Lions entered the Junker Center on Saturday February 7.  The Behrend men would win their sixth straight game overall and sixth straight home game with a 77-60 victory in front of 876 fans. 

Penn State Altoona took an early lead going up by six just five minutes into the first half.  The Behrend Lions would go on a 10-2 run to take a two point lead at 16-14.  The blue and white would stretch the lead to eight off an Adam Kaiser (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) three-pointer. The Behrend Lions used a balanced scoring attack getting points from every player seeing the court in the first half.  Coming off the bench freshman Nick Collela (New Castle/New Castle) led the way with eight points on 3-of-4 shooting as Behrend led 34-26 at the break. 

Penn State Altoona (12-9, 9-5) would bring the game within four behind solid defense through the first two minutes of the second half.  Senior Drew Seker (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) would stop the bleeding as he sunk a three to put the blue and white up by seven.  Behrend (15-6, 11-3) would extend the lead to ten after another Seker three-pointer.  The Behrend Lions would not look back as they pushed their lead to 20 with 4:06 left in the game.  Adam Potter (Pittsburgh/Mt. Lebanon) would score 12 second half points to total 18 points on the game and would add six boards as Behrend won by 17.

The blue and white had two others in double figures as Kaiser would hit 2-of-5 from behind the arc for 15 points while Seker would end the game with 13 points, five rebounds, and three assists. 

The blue and white will play the next three of its final four games on the road against AMCC opponents.  They will be back on the Junker Center hardwood to close out the season on February 21 against Pitt-Bradford at 8 p.m.
