Penn State Behrend Downs Altoona on Senior Day 6-0

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's soccer team defeated Penn State Altoona on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 6-0.  Penn State Behrend honored its senior class of Dakota Lange, Nick McKee, Chris Ralph, Ben Magliocca and Ryan Maurer with a pregame ceremony on the field.

Key Moments:

* Penn Stat Behrend's offense struck for two goals in two minutes midway through the first half. Nick Schwarzel (South Park, PA/South Park) scored in the 33rd minute to give PSB a 1-0 lead.
* Andrew Mastovich (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) added a second goal to put the Behrend Lions ahead 2-0.
* In the second half, Behrend was again on the offensive, adding a third goal in the 60th minute courtesy of senior Dakota Lange (Apollo, PA/Kiski Area).  Sophomore Richard Blanchard (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) assisted on each of the first three goals for the Behrend Lions.
* Five minutes later senior Ryan Maurer (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) headed in his fifth goal of the season off a nice chip pass from Michael DiCola (Beaver, PA/Beaver Area).
* Freshman Sean Abraham (Oakmont, PA/Oakmont) scored his first collegiate goal in the 84th minute to give PSB a 5-0 advantage. 
* Just a minute late, fellow freshman Devan Marhefka (Windber, PA/Windber Area) also scored his first collegiate goal.
* On the day the Behrend Lions outshot Altoona 26-0.
* Behrend is now outscoring AMCC competition 23-1 through five games.

Up Next:

Penn State Behrend will have four straight road contests to close out the regular season.  On Monday, October 15, Penn State Behrend will take on Franciscan at 3:15 p.m. at Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh.  Monday's contest with Franciscan was originally scheduled for Saturday October 6 but was postponed due to weather.
