WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend men's water polo team opened their 2018 season with a pair of games on the road Saturday. The Behrend Lions fell to both Gannon and Mercyhurst.
Gannon 11, Penn State Behrend 6
* Goalie Matt Olimski (San Diego, CA/Otay Ranch) posted 16 saves and three steals against the Golden Knights.
* Cameron Makin (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) led the PSB offense with a pair of goals.
* Four other Behrend Lions contributed one goal against Gannon.
* Austin Hoff (Lake Forest, CA/El Toro), Greg Kinzler (Kiski, PA/Agora Charter Cyber School), and Kyle Frerichs (Sellervsille, PA/Pennridge) all tallied an assist.
Mercyhurst 16, Penn State Behrend 9
* Goalkeep Matt Olimski posted double digits saves with 10. Olimski added a pair of steals
* Isaak Hatopp (Saline, MI/Saline) and Andre Sardaryzadeh (Murrieta, CA/Elsinore) both chipped in four steals against the Lakers.
* Cameron Makin tallied a pair of assists
* Hatopp, Greg Kinzler, Leo Suarez (West Palm Beach, FL/Forest Hills Community), and Sardaryzadeh all scored a pair of goals. Collin Holmes (Lake Forest, CA/El Toro) rounded out the PSB scoring against Mercyhurt with one goal.
