Lions Narrowly Defeat W&J; Unable To Overcome Augustana

ROCK ISLAND, Ill.  – The Penn State Behrend men's water polo team finished its two-day trip to Illinois with a 2-2 record, defeating Washington & Jefferson and falling to the hosts Augustana on Sunday.

Key Moments:

* The Lions notched their second consecutive victory of their two-day trip to Illinois with a one goal victory over the Presidents
* Behrend went ahead 8-3 with five minutes left in the third period, but Washington & Jefferson made the game interesting with four straight scores late in the contest
* Junior Eugene Kruger (Pleasanton, CA/Foothill) had a team-high three goals, while Ryan Carpico (Skippack, PA/Perkiomen) and Connor Bradley (Collegeville, PA/Perkiomen) each chipped in two scores
* Eli Anderson (Encinitas, CA/Dan Dieguito) and Ryan Kenney (Skippack, PA/Perkiomen Valley) dished out two assists apiece. Anderson also led the team on the defensive side with two steals in Behrend's first game Sunday
* The fourth Lion to find the back of the net was Chase Cordon (Canyon Lake, CA/Temescal Canyon) in the second period
* Goalkeeper Ethan Friedman (Valley Center, CA/Valley Center) was pivotal in stopping Washington & Jefferson's comeback attempt, finishing with 12 saves
* The Lions narrowly outshot the Presidents, 33-32

* Kenney tallied two goals to lead the Lions in their final game on Sunday, while Anderson, Carpico, and Jack Holl (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) each chipped in a score
* Will Aikens (LaGrange Park, IL/Lyons Township), Andrew Nunes (Flower Mound, TX), and Kenney recorded one assist apiece
* On the defensive side, Anderson made three steals
