Lions Compete at Waynesburg in Tri-Match

WAYNESBURG, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend wrestling team fell in three dual matches, including two matches against nationally-ranked teams, held at Waynesburg on Saturday.

No. 9 Baldwin Wallace posted a 45-3 win against the Lions, before Apprentice posted a 30-21 win over Behrend. The Lions fell 41-9 to No. 24 Waynesburg in the final match of the day.

Jake Paulson (Erie, PA/McDowell) led Behrend with three wins on the day at the 184 weight class. He tallied the lone win against the Yellow Jackets with an 18-14 decision over Grant Rathburn. Paulson then pinned Dan Henson of Apprentice in 6:45, before defeating Mike Millero of Waynesburg 10-4.

Jacob Lenhardt (McKean, PA/General McLane) tallied a pair of wins for the Lions at heavyweight. He posted a decision victory against Zach Sintobin of Apprentice and then pinned Sean Bright of Waynesburg in 1:20. The fall puts him tied for most team pins with six along with Paulson.  

Sam Svetz (North East, PA/North East) picked up the first win against Apprentice for his lone win of the day. Wrestling at 157, he pinned Ty Boyd in 5:24 for his fourth dual victory of the season.

Behrend returns to action on January 6 at the Waynesburg Invitational.
