Women's Track and Field Breaks Records at SPIRE

GENEVA, Oh. – The Penn State Behrend women's track and field team traveled back to Spire Saturday to compete in another round. 

Haley Yenchik (Cecil, PA/Canon McMillan) posted a new school pole vault record and an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) qualifying height of 3.52m, good enough a for third place finish. Gabriella Loeffler (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) also earned a spot at the ECAC championships in the pole vault event, leaping at a height 3.22m for sixth place.

In the 400m, Rachel Pell (Elizabeth, PA/Elizabeth Forward) set new Penn State Behrend record with a fifth place finish and final time of 58.78 seconds.

The women's 4x400m relay, made up of of Ashlyn Carlsson (Butler, PA/Knoch), Loeffler, Yenchik, and Pell, joined the men's team with a seventh place finish and an ECAC qualifying time of 4:08.45. Carlsson and Loeffler ran splits of 63.3, Yenchik at 62.8, and Pell finished strong with a time of 58.7.

The Lions travel to Mount Union next Saturday with another 10 a.m. start.
