Men's & Women's Cross Country Earns USTFCCCA Academic Awards
Riley Crissman, Savanna Carr, along with both of the Penn State Behrend men’s and women’s cross country teams have received U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic recognition for their performance in the classroom this past season.
ERIE, Pa – Riley Crissman (Bradford, PA/Bradford Area), Savanna Carr (Franklin, PA/Franklin Area), along with both of the Penn State Behrend men's and women's cross country teams have received U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic recognition for their performance in the classroom this past season.
Crissman and Carr were two of the 668 student-athletes named USTFCCCA All-Academic with women accounting for 55 percent of that total number (368). In order to qualify for this honor, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 and finish in the top 25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.
For a team to be considered for this distinction, it must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Meet. The team must also have a minimum team GPA of 3.10 on a 4.0 scale.
The men's and women's teams were two of 389 teams honored by the USTFCCCA. Of those teams, 221 women's squads made it and 167 of them were men. The Behrend men compiled a 3.39 GPA and the women held a 3.52 GPA. Both the men's and women's cross country team were are led by head coach Greg Cooper.
