Four Named AMCC Athletes of the Week

ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Behrend senior Phoenix Myers (Erie, PA/Seneca), freshman Olivia Nola (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy, senior Madi Jones (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield) and graduate student Maddie Clapper (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) have been named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Athletes of the Week.

Myers was named the Athlete of the Week for the Behrend men's cross country. He helped the Lions claim the PSB Invitational Title on Friday night. Myers ran to a first-place finish for the 8K race with a time of 27:12.3. He finished a minute ahead of the runner up.

Nola earned Athlete of the Week for the women's cross country team. The freshman is earning this honor for the second time this season. Friday night, she was runner up at the PSB Invitational with a time of 25:57.1. It marks the second straight race Nola has led the women's team.

Jones represents the Defensive Athlete of the Week for women's soccer. The goalkeeper tallied her second win in between the pipes, making three saves for her second shutout in a 1-0 victory against Mt. Aloysius on Saturday.

Clapper was named Defensive Athlete of the Week for women's volleyball. The defensive specialist averaged 5.73 digs in three wins for the Lions last week. She posted a season-high 30 digs against Grove City and then followed with 22 in a 3-1 win over Kean. Clapper totaled 63 digs, nine service aces and eight assists in three matches.
