Three Named AMCC Athletes of the Week

ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Behrend sophomore Tim Compton (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny), junior Tommy DiRienzo (Pittsburgh, PA/Bethel Park) and freshman Lewis Rhodes (Reston, VA/South Lakes) have been named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Athletes of the Week.

Compton, the Men's Swimmer of the Week for a third time this season, had a hand in three victories while breaking the pool record in the 200 butterfly vs. Nazareth on Saturday. He swam a 1:53.61 to set the record, leading off with a time of 25.79 and finishing with 29.90 in the 200 fly for first place. Compton also won the 100 butterfly in 51.96 while also swimming the third leg of the winning 200 medley relay (1:39.60).

DiRienzo, the Men's Basketball Player of the Week, averaged 26.0 points and 7.0 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Lions. In a loss against Alfred State, DiRienzo recorded 25 points, eight rebounds, three steals, and two assists. On Saturday vs. the Mounties, he scored a season-high 27 points, grabbed six rebounds, and once again added three steals and two assists. DiRienzo drained seven three pointers on the week and went 7-for-8 from the charity stripe, while shooting 61.3 percent from the floor.

Rhodes, the Men's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, had strong presence at the net in three matches for the Lions. The newcomer tallied 12 blocks (1.00 blocks per set) including seven blocks vs. Saint Vincent on Saturday. Rhodes also added 15 kills and four digs.
