Lindberg, Ionadi Named AMCC Athletes of the Week
Penn State Behrend baseball freshman Silvio Ionadi and junior softball pitcher Kayla Lindberg have been named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Players of the Week.
ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Behrend baseball freshman Silvio Ionadi (Pittsburgh, PA/Plum) and junior softball pitcher Kayla Lindberg (Austinburg, OH/Geneva) have been named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Players of the Week.
Ionadi hit .526 in a 4-1 week for the Lions, going 10-for-19 with 12 RBI, two doubles and two home runs. The freshman also stole two bases and scored nine runs of his own. Ionadi had a standout performance against first place Alfred State, as he recorded two home runs for seven RBI in the 10-3 win over the Pioneers. He had multiple hits in four of the five games.
Lindberg posted a 1.40 ERA in a 1-0 week, throwing 10 innings and allowing two earned runs. She also struck out eight, including five vs. Altoona. Lindberg earned a complete-game victory over Penn State Altoona, a key win for Behrend, giving them sole possession of first place in conference standings.
