Behrend Soccer, Basketball Teams Embarking on International Trips

ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Behrend Athletics has four teams embarking on international trips beginning next week. The men's and women's soccer teams, along with men's and women's basketball teams will have the opportunity to grow as a team, and gain lifetime experiences while exploring different cultures.

The women's soccer team will go on an eight-day, seven-nights tour of Spain. The Lions will travel from May 8-16, making trips to Barcelona, Valencia and Madrid. In addition to two friendly games against local club teams, the itinerary includes active adventures, great food, beautiful scenery and tours highlighting Spain's fascinating history and culture. This is women's soccer sixth international trip.

The men's soccer team is headed to Croatia for their eighth international trip in program history. The team will depart on Monday, May 8 and head to Dubrovnik for a guided tour of "Old Town" and their first of three games against a local club teams. Behrend will make stops in Split, Slunj and Zagreb. The team will visit Plitvicka National Park and finish the trip with a tour of "War of Independence" museum.

The men's basketball team will travel to Italy for an eight-day, seven-night excursion. The trip will take place May 7-15 with stops in Rome, Florence, Lucca/Pisa or Siena. While in Rome, the Lions will visit the Vatican and play their first of three games before heading to Florence to tour museums and take pizza-making class. This is men's basketball ninth international trip.

The women's basketball team journey to Greece from May 9-18. The team will explore Athens, Nafplio and Mykonos. The Lions will visit Palamidi Castle, the Acropolis and tour the Olympic Stadium while playing two games and enjoying outdoor adventures. This is women's basketball sixth international trip.
