To say that Gary Borowy, a 1973 University Park graduate, has left his mark on men's basketball history at Penn State Behrend is a great understatement.  His career statistics serve as a benchmark for today's players.  His 22 PPG average is second in 33 years of college basketball history at Penn State Behrend.  He grabbed 478 career rebounds.  This total places him ninth on the all-time charts.  The 988 points he netted in only two seasons places him eighth on the record charts.

In 1970, he led his team to the Penn State Commonwealth Campus Championship, and was named to the all-Tourney team for two consecutive seasons. The most impressive note about Borowy's records is that he compiled them in only two seasons at Penn State Behrend.  He scored 40, 34, and 33 points in his best games, and devastated opponents with his inside power moves.  He concluded the 1970-71 season with 531 points, the third most points scored in a single-season.

Borowy graduated with a degree from the College of Business Administration.  He currently operates and manages his own insurance agency in Erie.
