Channas spent two seasons on the Penn State Behrend soccer team.  Because of his leadership qualities, he served as the captain for both years.  He was a quiet leader who led by example.  His play and attitude motivated teammates to achieve greater heights.

He guided the Lion's teams to two consecutive Commonwealth Campus Championships in 1970 and 1971.  Channas was named the 1970 Penn State Behrend Athlete of the Year and tabbed All-Region by the NJCAA.

His natural speed and skill made Jim the Lions first pure goal scorer.  Channas' favorite sound was the ball cruising into the back of the goal, ripping the net.  It is evident.  He continues to be the College's all-time leading career goal scorer with 27.

This 1974 graduate of University Park is currently a mechanical estimator in Heidelberg, Pennsylvania.
