Simon, a 1977 graduate of Mount Lebanon High School, earned four varsity letters for baseball at Penn State Behrend under longtime coach Shorty Stoner.

As a senior, Simon captained the team to a school record twenty wins.  As an outstanding defensive catcher, his offensive numbers proved to be equally strong.  He hit .311 with 3 home runs and 27 RBI's as the team captured the school's first NAIA District 18 Baseball Championship.

Simon's bright career permanently left his mark on the Penn State Behrend baseball program.  He is the all-time leader in career hits with 128.  Simon also holds the record for most hits in a single season with 42 in 1980.  In 1979, he hit a career best .432, and in 1980 he followed with a sharp .429.  His efforts won him the White Letter Award in both seasons, emblematic of the MVP award.

Simon is a 1982 graduate of Penn State Behrend, and was twice a member of the dean's list. He is currently an attorney-at-law in Pittsburgh.
