Kevin Rinehardt (1994-1998), an Academy High School product, was a standout soccer player for the Behrend Lions under Head Coach Dan Perritano.

Rinehardt made waves early during his soccer career for Penn State Behrend and people took notice. He scored the game-winning goal in the Lochbaum Championship game, a 1-0 victory over Oswego. Later Rinehardt was named the AMCC Player of the Week, after connecting for the only goal in a 1-0 win over John Carroll and in the next contest drove another into the net in a 2-1 win over the La Roche Redhawks for a key AMCC win.

As a junior he led the program to the school record for wins and was named to the Western Pennsylvania Intercollegiate Soccer Conference All-Star team. As a regular member of the Dean’s List, Rinehardt also collected hardware for Behrend’s Male Scholar Athlete of the Year in 1995-96.

Rinehardt followed that season with a terrific senior campaign, which featured another record-breaking season for wins with 13, and an appearance in the AMCC Championship game.

At the conclusion of his brilliant career, the team captain ranked number-one all-time in games played (71) for the Behrend Lions along with fellow inductee and teammate Ryan Ruta. Rinehardt guided the Behrend Lions to 39 wins over his four seasons of play and ranks in the top twenty-five for points scored in a career.

Rinehardt, is teaching at Ashtabula Area City Schools, and is still actively involved in the soccer community as a coach.
