2002-03 Baseball

The 2003 Behrend baseball team made school history by capturing their second straight Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship. The Lions defeated Misercordia and Waynesburg en route to taking home the Southern Region Championship.

The Behrend baseball program ended the season with 33 wins, second in school history, including 10 straight victories under the leadership of head coach Paul Benim. The Lions were led by team MVP Mitch Reckner and Most Valuable Pitcher Ryan Seyler.

Jason Shaffer took home Most Improved Player honors with Adam Best earning the Golden Glove award. The baseball program finished the season as one of just 42 teams receiving votes in the American Baseball Coaches Association/Collegiate Baseball Poll.

The 2003 Behrend Lions baseball team helped pave the way for future teams, creating a program that is nationally recognized every year.
