Andy Laver '04

Andy Laver was a standout for the Penn State Behrend men’s soccer team from 2000-04. He was named AMCC Player of the Year along with Team MVP in 2003, leading the Lions to an AMCC Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance. The three-time All-AMCC choice finished his career ranked seventh in career goals (22), eighth in career points (55), 12th in career games (74) and 16th in career assists (11).

After registering just six points combined in his first two years, Laver quadrupled that in each of his last two seasons. An All-AMCC honorable mention as a sophomore, he elevated to a first-team choice his junior and senior year.

The 2002 season proved to be the breakthrough year for Laver. The junior helped Behrend advance to the AMCC Championship game and led the team with 10 goals and three assists for 23 points. He was recognized on the All-AMCC first team and voted the Team MVP.

Laver played a role in the one of most successful seasons of soccer at Behrend in 2003. The senior captain scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over Frostburg in the AMCC Championship game and the Lions advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time in school history. The team finished with a 14-5-2 overall mark, setting the program record for most wins in a season. Laver posted 10 goals and 24 points, earning All-AMCC first-team and AMCC Player of the Year honors.
