Kayla Frost

Frost became one of the top goalkeepers in the history of Penn State Behrend women’s soccer from 2006-09. The three-time All-AMCC choice led Behrend to a pair of regular-season and overall AMCC Championships (2006, 2007). Her senior year, Frost led the conference in goals-against average (0.13) to earn her NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region honors along with Team MVP and First Team All-Conference accolades. She ranks second all-time in saves (344) and shutouts (26), while ranking third in games played (69).

Frost started between the pipes her freshman year in 2006. She managed to produce her best season output in shutouts and saves. In 21 games played, Frost made 118 saves and tallied a league-leading 11 shutouts. She was recognized as a Second Team All-AMCC choice, the first of three conference accolades. This year, she led the Lions to fifth overall AMCC Championship with a 2-1 win over Frostburg to advance to the NCAA Tournament.

In 2007, Frost led Behrend to a second-straight conference championship with another 2-1 win over Frostburg in the AMCC final. She held her starting position in the net, adding 113 saves and nine more shutouts to her resume. She posted a season-high 22 saves on September 15 against non-conference Westminster, resulting in a scoreless tie. Frost tallied seven saves in the AMCC title game to propel the Lions to the NCAA Tournament once again. She earned First Team All-AMCC

After starting in the first six games of her junior season, Frost sustained a season-ending injury. That injury propelled her into having her best year in 2009. Frost became the program’s first goalkeeper to earn NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region honors and she repeated on the All-AMCC first team. She led the conference in goals-against average (0.13) and save percentage (.947), only allowing one goal in conference play.  The Lions were the AMCC Regular-Season Champions to earn the No. 1 seed. Behrend fell in the first round to Altoona yet earned a postseason bid to the ECAC Tournament. The Lions defeated Grove City 2-1 and Frost helped Behrend advance to the championship game with a penalty kick victory over Penn State Altoona, avenging the AMCC loss.
