Chelsea Magnusen
Magnusen was a dominant setter for the Behrend women’s volleyball team from 2010-2013. She was a three-time All-AMCC selection, while being selected AMCC Player of the Year her senior season. Magnusen became the fourth player in program history to reach 2,000 assists and currently is fifth all-time in assists with 3,087. She was 63 digs shy of 1,000 for her career, finishing with 937 while also adding 428 kills. Magnusen competed in 413 sets, averaging 7.47 assists per set. She led the Lions to consecutive undefeated AMCC regular seasons and an AMCC Championship in 2013.
In the ultimate showcase of versatility, Magnusen put up offensive and defensive numbers that dominated the team and the conference.
After seeing significant playing time as a freshman and ranking second on the team in assists, the sophomore setter made her way onto the All-Conference Second Team for averaging 8.66 assists per set and recording 10 double-doubles (assists and digs).
Magnusen’s resilience and enthusiasm on the court led to her becoming the fourth player in program history to reach 2,000 career assists in her junior year. She led the AMCC in total assists (923) and was third in attack percentage (2.79).
Not only did she lead the team in statistics in 2013, but also in leadership as a senior captain. Magnusen’s all-around athletic talents landed her on the All-AMCC First Team for the second year in a row and was voted AMCC Player of the Year. She led the team to its third overall AMCC Championship and first title since 2005.
While the offensive numbers alone are staggering, Magnusen took great pride in her ability to contribute to the team in several ways. She finished her career fifth all-time in assists (3,087) and added 937 digs, 428 kills, 133 service aces and 124 blocks.
