Dante DeSantis
DeSantis was a three-year hurler for the Penn State Behrend baseball team from 2012-2014. He was a three-time Academic All-AMCC choice and an Academic Second Team All-American. DeSantis boasts a 20-9 overall record with 191 strikeouts and a 2.88 career ERA. In his senior year, he went 9-3 with a 2.75 earned run average with 57 strikeouts. DeSantis is third on the Behrend all-time list in K's (191), fifth in wins (20), and fifth in innings pitched (200.1). He helped the Lions capture a pair of ECAC South Championships and one AMCC Championship.
DeSantis showcased a great diversity of skill the moment he stepped on the Behrend Diamond. The versatile sophomore played in 35 games, alternating positions between outfield, pitcher, and pinch hitter. On the mound, DeSantis picked up six wins while striking out 76 batters in 64.1 innings of work. He helped Behrend win the first of two ECAC South Championships and earned the Team Hustle and Spirit Award.
Dante was very competitive and consistent. He gave Behrend a chance to win every time he stepped on the mound. In his junior year, the Lions captured the AMCC Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. He added 58 more strikeouts to his resume and finished with a 5-3 record in 12 games started.
DeSantis stands among a group of elite Behrend pitchers with his numerous accomplishments on the hill throughout his career, however, his academic exploits were just as impressive. His focus and motivation on the diamond and in the classroom earned him All-Academic each year before landing on the Academic All-America Second Team. DeSantis was also the recipient of the Leadership/Scholarship Award winner during senior year.
