Eric Vunovic
Vunovic was the first player in Behrend men’s soccer program history to record 20 goals and 20 assists in his career from 2010-13. He was a three-time All-Conference selection and the Behrend Male Athlete of the Year in 2013. That same year, Vunovic led the team with 10 goals and six assists for 26 points while earning All-Region, Team MVP and ECAC All-Star honors. In his freshman year, he was named Team Rookie of the Year and to the AMCC All-Academic team. Vunovic finished his career tied for the all-time program lead with 24 assists. He led the Lions to a pair of AMCC Championships and two ECAC Tournament appearances.
Vunovic garnered groundbreaking achievements; becoming the first player in program history to reach 20 goals and 20 assists in a career.
A natural leader, his influence transcended the team to post-season play all four years. He began his career as the Team’s Rookie of the Year and earned AMCC All-Academic. The defender turned midfielder, led the team with nine assists while adding two goals to earn All-AMCC Second Team honors during his sophomore year.
Vunovic lived for big moments in games, including scoring a goal and adding two assists in the ECAC Quarterfinals as a junior. His senior year, he scored on a penalty kick with 5:53 left in the game to help Behrend past Medaille for the AMCC Championship.
His playmaking abilities combined with his drive to find the back of the net made him dangerous to opponents. By his junior year, Vunovic had a hand in 17 goals with nine goals and eight assists, scoring four game winners.
In 2013, Vunovic put together one of Behrend’s best individual seasons. He led the team with 26 points behind 10 goals and six assists. The accolades poured in while the team won its sixth overall conference championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in three years.
Along with his program-tying 24 career assists, Vunovic also sits seventh all-time with 22 career goals.
