Rachel (Mueller) Palcic
Mueller was a powerhouse defender for the Behrend women’s soccer team from 2010-2013. She was a two-time All-AMCC selection, while being selected AMCC Defensive Player of the Year and named All-Region during her senior year. Mueller helped the Lions capture three straight AMCC Championships to earn three NCAA Tournament appearances. She was instrumental in 29 shutouts over her four-year career.
The women’s soccer team certainly has a well-earned reputation of national prowess even from its earliest stages. The Lions have numerous conference championships throughout the program's lifetime. That sustained success is in part to Mueller over her four-year career.
Her career included three championships in the AMCC for a chance to compete in the NCAA Championships and one ECAC Tournament. Fittingly enough, it was Mueller leading the last line of defense in more than half of the Lions victories each season resulting in a shutout.
Even before reaching the level of All-AMCC status, Mueller demonstrated true leadership on the field while providing lock-down defense. Behrend presented one of the best backlines in the conference, only giving up 24 goals over four years.
In her junior season, Mueller landed on the All-AMCC First Team for guiding the defense that allowed just six goals in nine conference games, while posting seven shutouts overall in 21 games.
Her continued physical presence in the backline garnered her AMCC Defensive Player of the Year, her second All-Conference accolades on the First Team and NSCAA Continental Tire NCAA Division III All-Region Third Team honors her senior year. Eight shutouts led to 15 wins and another trip to postseason play. The Lions finished the season 15-6-1 record.
