Shelby (Lloyd) Mundy was a lockdown defender for the Behrend women’s soccer team from 2011-2014. She was a three-time All-AMCC selection, while being selected the Behrend Female Athlete of the Year and AMCC Defensive Player of the Year during her senior year. Lloyd helped the Lions capture four consecutive AMCC Championships to earn four NCAA Tournament appearances.
Lloyd chartered the course for the AMCC powerhouse status that Behrend women’s soccer has enjoyed over the last decade. She seized a starting spot from the moment she stepped onto the soccer pitch at Behrend. As a freshman, she earned Team Rookie of the Year and contributed three goals and one assist out of the back.
Lloyd was the leading voice out of the back. In her sophomore season, she was named to the All-AMCC Second Team. Lloyd anchored the defense that posted eight shutouts and helped the Lions to their second straight AMCC Championship and NCAA Tournament bid.
The success gained by the women’s soccer program under Lloyd’s guidance was unparalleled. After being named to the All-AMCC Second Team once again in her junior season, she earned the status of Preseason Player of the Year entering the 2014 season. Lloyd garnered First Team All-AMCC for the first time and was named Defensive Player of the Year. She was instrumental in eight shutouts and tallied two goals and one assist for five points, while holding AMCC opponents to .833 goals per game.
Lloyd was instrumental in 32 shutouts over her four-year career. She competed in 86 total games, tying for the school record for most contests played. In addition to holding opponents scoreless, she tallied 12 goals and dished out three assists for 27 points.
