Lions Open Up Competition at ECAC's

NEW YORK, N.Y - Luke Patten (West Middlesex, PA/West Middlesex) led the Penn State Behrend men's and women's track and field teams Friday at the ECAC Championships with a third place finish in the pole vault competition. Patten posted a 4.67m performance to notch the third place finish.

The 4x200 relay team consisting of Kevin Gardner, (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) Patten, Matthew Grafton (Worthington, PA/Kittanning) and Greg Graf (South Park, PA/South Park) put together a ninth place finish with a time of 1:32.40.

Paige Allen (Butler, PA/Butler) ran her way to a 22nd place finish in the 60m dash tallying a time of 7.99.

Mitchell Obenrader (Fryburg, PA/North Clarion) advanced to the finals in the shot put and tallied an eighth place finish. His heave was 15.42m.

Saturday's session will include Allen in the 200m dash, Gardner in the high jump and the men's 4x800 relay team. Events start at 10 a.m.
