Behrend Women’s Bowling Projected To Finish Fourth In AMCC Preseason Poll
Under the tutelage of sixth-year head coach Steve Benke, the Penn State Behrend women’s bowling team was picked to finish fourth in the 2024-25 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Preseason Coaches’ Poll.
ERIE, Pa. – Under the tutelage of sixth-year head coach Steve Benke, the Penn State Behrend women's bowling team was picked to finish fourth in the 2024-25 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Preseason Coaches' Poll.
Last season, the Lions finished with an overall record of 34-42 and 11-9 in conference play, falling to New Jersey City in the first round of the AMCC Championships.
Senior Sidney Batsa (Latrobe, PA/Latrobe) and junior Emily Warrene (Tarentum, PA/Deer Lakes) were named Preseason Players to Watch.
Batsa is the highest returning player average frame score of 16.24 and highest returning player frame fill percentage of 66% from a year ago as she was named the team's Most Improved Bowler.
Warrene is the second-highest returning player from last season with a frame average of 15.19 and fill percentage of 62%, earning the 2023-24 Lions Sportsmanship Award.
Reigning AMCC Champion William Smith has been selected as the front runner for this season, while Alvernia is expected to finish in second with Saint Vincent rounding out the top three.
Behrend began the 2024-25 season last weekend at the Mercyhurst Invitational and will host the Grapevine Classic this Saturday and Sunday at Eastland Bowl. On Saturday, Batsa and fellow senior Katy Richardson (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) will be recognized.
