Behrend Baseball Splits With Pitt-Bradford Again

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend baseball team split a non-conference doubleheader with Pitt-Bradford on Monday afternoon. The Lions won the opener 6-3 and fell 9-8 decision in the nightcap.

Game One:
Score:

Key Moments:

* The Lions scored four runs on four hits in the fourth to erase a one-run deficit and collect the non-conference win
* Behrend went through the order in the bottom of the fourth
* Anthony Slate (Hopewell, PA/Hopewell) started the comeback with a triple to center field
* A RBI single by Tanner Cicchini (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) knocked in Slate to knot the game at 4-all
* Cicchini made it to third with a stolen base and a ground out, before scoring the eventual game-winning run on a Braden Paulinellie (DuBois, PA/DuBois) single to left field
* With two outs, Juston Jones (Moon Township, PA/Moon) registered a hit to send Paulinellie home
* Josh Wagner (South Park, PA/South Park), who got hit to get on base, scored with another hit by a pitch with Colin Harger (Pittsburgh, PA/Shaler) at bat for a 6-3 lead
* Starter Jacob Lindow (Bridgeville, PA/Chartiers Valley) recorded his second win, throwing six innings and striking out seven
* Jones came in relief in the final inning to earn the save

Key Moments:

* The Panthers used five runs in the sixth inning to take the lead for good and capture game two
* The sea-saw battle went in Pitt-Bradford's favor thanks to N. Hall's RBI single up the middle to score Fragela for the eventual game-winning run in the top of the sixth
* In the bottom of the frame, Isaac Stouffer (Punxsutawney, PA / Punxsutawney) tripled and scored on Wagner's sacrifice fly to right field to make it 9-8
* Cicchini gave the Lions promise with his second triple of the day, but Behrend could not get him around to stay down one run
* There was a combined 28 hits for 17 runs
* Cicchini finished 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored
* Pitcher Jeff Zick (Moon, PA/Our Lady of Sacred Heart) came in to pitch one inning and suffered his first loss of the season
