Behrend Baseball Hosts Medaille in Regular-Season Home Finale

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend baseball team will host the Medaille Mavericks in their final regular-season home doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action.

* The Lions went 4-2 last week, sweeping Alfred State in AMCC action to move into third place in the standings
* Behrend had two complete-game shutouts, first in game one against Alfred State (1-0) and then in game one vs. Oberlin (7-0)
* Junior pitcher Thomas Zbezinski (Gibsonia, PA/Pine-Richland) reached 100 career strikeouts in a complete-game three-hit shutout vs. the Pioneers
* Zbezinski threw 10 strikeouts in eight innings, fanning a batter at least once every inning for his fourth win of the season
* Freshman hurler Caleb Caldwell (Frewsburg, PA/Frewsburg) went the distance in the opener against Oberlin, throwing a five-hit shutout in his first collegiate start and win
* Senior Braden Paulinellie (DuBois, PA/DuBois) extended his hitting streak to seven straight games this week, registering 11 hits in 21 chances for a .524 average
* Paulinellie also scored four runs and smacked a pair of doubles and a pair sacrifice flies in six contests
