Behrend Baseball Set to Face La Roche in AMCC Championships

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The No. 2 Penn State Behrend baseball team will take on the No. 1 La Roche Redhawks in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championships on Wednesday. The series is best two out of three and the winner advances to the NCAA Tournament.

Behrend News & Notes:

* The Lions (23-10) and Redhawks (19-1) are meeting for the seventh time in the AMCC Championship game
* The last time the Redhawks and the Behrend faced off in the conference championship was in 2017
* Behrend has won three in a row, including a pair of victories over Mt. Aloysius in the conference semifinals on Thursday
* Colin Harger (Pittsburgh, PA/Shaler), Braden Paulinellie (DuBois, PA/DuBois), and Josh Wagner (South Park, PA/South Park) are ranked 1, 3 and 5, respectively, in batting average in the conference
* Harger is batting a team and conference-lead .460 and is on a 13-game hitting streak
* Harger had a season-best five hits on five attempts in game two against Mt. Aloysius
* Junior pitcher Thomas Zbezinski (Gibsonia, PA/Pine-Richland) got his sixth win of the season, going the distance and throwing a career-high 11 strikeouts vs. the Mounties in game one
* Zbezinski is first in the AMCC with 62 strikeouts and is second with a 2.01 ERA
* As a team, the Lions rank second in doubles with 79 and  RBIs with 232
* Behrend is competing for its sixth AMCC title, last winning the crown in 2013

* The Redhawks are the reigning AMCC Champions
* The last time the La Roche lost in the AMCC Championship was to Behrend in 2013
* La Roche defeated Alfred State to punch its ticket to the ninth straight conference title series
* The Redhawks won 14-1 and 8-7 vs. the Pioneers on Friday
* Jake Seymour leads the AMCC with a 0.56 ERA and seven wins
* Seymour is also second in the conference with 56 strikeouts
