Palmer Tags Grand Slam; Behrend Baseball Takes Two From Pitt-Bradford

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend baseball team swept Pitt-Bradford in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Wednesday afternoon. The Lions won 10-3 and 8-2.

Game One:
Final Score: Penn State Behrend 10, Pitt-Bradford 3
Records: Penn State Behrend (13-13, 4-3 AMCC), Pitt-Bradford (6-20, 3-6 AMCC)

* With a slight 2-1 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth, the Lions exploded for eight runs
* It only took three hits to give the Lions a nine-run lead heading into the sixth
* Two runs were bases-loaded walks and then Zac Bogats (Corapolis, PA/Moon) singled through the left side for two more runs
* Behrend loaded the bases again and just in time for Chase Palmer (Brookeville, PA/Brookville) to hit a grand slam over the left-field fence to make it 10-1
* The Panthers tallied two runs in the sixth for the final margin
* The Lions had nine singles and the home run for the 10 hits in the game
* Evan Bromley (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park) improves his record to 3-2, pitching the first 5.2 innings and fanning four while allowing the three runs
* Palmer went 3-for-3 in game one, while Silvio Ionadi (Pittsburgh, PA/Plum) registered a pair of hits and two RBIs

Game Two:

Final Score: Penn State Behrend 8, Pitt-Bradford 2
Records: Penn State Behrend (14-13, 5-3 AMCC), Pitt-Bradford (6-21, 3-7 AMCC)

* The Lions handed the Panthers their 10th straight loss in game two, using 11 hits to score eight in nine innings
* Ethan Tinker (Pittsburgh, PA/Avonworth) is now 3-2 thanks to 7.1 innings of work and striking out four batters
* Mac Ciocco (Venetia, PA/Peters Township) had three hits and two RBIs and Isaac Stouffer (Punxsutawney, PA/Punxsutawney) added a pair of hits
* Similar to game one, Behrend waited until later in the contest to register a few big innings
* Ionadi doubled and scored on a Ciocco single for a 1-0 lead
* The Lions added four more in the sixth, before Pitt-Bradford got on the board in the top of seventh
* Behrend responded in the bottom of the frame with three runs on three hits
* Stouffer doubled and scored on Ciocco's ensuing single to left center
* Pinch runner Jacob Weckerly (Karns City, PA/Karns City) got to third on a passed ball and came home on a single by Palmer
* Palmer made it home for the third run of the inning on a sacrifice fly by Ryan Meneskie (Moon Township, PA/Moon)
* The Panthers committed six errors, including four in the sixth
