Jones Hits Grand Slam; Behrend Baseball Defeats Thiel

GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Behrend baseball team defeated Thiel 20-2 in a non-conference single game on Thursday afternoon.

Final Score: Penn State Behrend 20, Thiel 2
Records: Penn State Behrend (17-15), Thiel (11-24)

Game One:

* The win marks the second time this season the Lions have registered 20 or more runs
* Behrend tallied its second-best output for RBIs with 20
* It also marked the second game of the season the Lions tallied a pair of home runs
* Juston Jones (Moon, PA/Moon) and Daniel Boehme (Peters, PA/Seton La Salle) had a long ball
* Boehme smacked a three run homer to left field in the eight-run second inning
* Jones was responsible for all four runs in the third with a grand slam over the right-field fence
* Out of the 13 hits, five of them were extra base
* Silvio Ionadi (Pittsburgh, PA/Plum) had two doubles, while Colin Harger (Pittsburgh, PA/Shaler) had a three-run RBI double to cover all the runs scored in the sixth
* Jack Baumgartel (Sewickley, PA/North Allegheny) got the win, working the first four innings and striking out four
* Sawyer Prince (Shinglehouse, PA/Punxsutawney) came in to relieve Baumgartel for the final three innings to get the save
