Behrend Baseball Sweeps Penn State Altoona

EBENSBURG, Pa. – The Behrend baseball team swept Penn State Altoona in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Saturday at Central Cambria High School.  

Game One
Final Score: Penn State Behrend 10, Penn State Altoona 9
Records: Penn State Behrend (18-15, 8-5 AMCC), Penn State Altoona (15-23, 5-8 AMCC)

Key Moments:

* Silvio Ionadi (Pittsburgh, PA/Plum) went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and Isaac Stouffer (Punxsutawney, PA/Punxsutawney) had home run and a double for four RBIs
* Devin Hicks (Clifton Springs, NY/Midlakes) got his first win in relief, pitching 1.1 innings and facing 10 batters
* Joe Lang (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) earned his second save in the final two innings with three strikeouts
* After falling behind 1-0 after the first inning, the Behrend Lions got five runs on five hits in the top of the second
* Altoona tied it up with four runs in the fourth, but Behrend took the lead for good with four runs in the fifth
* Stouffer hit a two-run homer in the second and then scored another pair of runs with a double in the fifth frame

Final Score: Penn State Behrend 9, Penn State Altoona 7
Records: Penn State Behrend (19-15, 9-5 AMCC), Penn State Altoona (15-24, 5-9 AMCC)

* Behrend grabbed a 7-0 lead in the nightcap and held on to win by two for the sweep
* The Behrend Lions had 10 total hits, five extra base
* Zac Bogats (Corapolis, PA/Moon) and Mac Ciocco (Venetia, PA/Peters Township) each registered two doubles and a sacrifice fly
* Ciocco drove in five runs with his two hits
* Derrick Shields (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) pitched the first seven innings and struck out six while walking three for the win
* The Behrend Lions scored all nine runs in the first five innings
* Altoona got within three runs in the sixth and then two more in the final two innings
