The Penn State Behrend baseball team has released the schedule for the upcoming 2025 season and will embark on a 40-game regular season schedule across five states this spring.
ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend baseball team has released the schedule for the upcoming 2025 season and will embark on a 40-game regular season schedule across five states this spring. Last season, the blue and white won the AMCC Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament while posting a 29-13-1 record.
"The goal is to win the conference again," said senior pitcher Joe Lang. "We know that after our success last year, this is going to be more difficult to do this season. We now have a target on our back, but we are ready for the challenge."
The Lions will open the season playing Hobart and Muskingum in a two-game weekend in Ohio at the end of February. The following weekend, the Lions will travel to Virginia for a three-game set at Eastern Mennonite. The annual spring training trip adventure will be in Fort Pierce, Florida again. Behrend will play eight varsity as well as a couple JV games.
"We have a really good group of guys," shared senior first baseman Mac Ciocco. "I am really excited for the Florida trip since we get to play baseball every day and be with our teammates. I think this year's team has a good mix of veterans who have seen the work required to win, and young guys who are eager to do what they can to help us."
The home opener for the Lions will be on March 29th as they host Franciscan. That will be the first of 14 games Behrend will defend on their home field. Behrend opens conference play at home against Mt. Aloysius on April 5. The remaining home conference games will be against Hilbert, Altoona, and Alfred State. Waynesburg, and Westminster will also make the trip to Erie this year for non-conference games.
Behrend's road conference opponents this year are La Roche, Pitt-Bradford, and Pitt-Greensburg. Also, Behrend will travel to Allegheny, Fredonia, Hiram, Mt. Union and Thiel, for non-conference action.
In addition, the Fredonia State Blue Devils will battle the blue and white in a home and home series for the I-90 Cup on April 7 and April 23. By conference decision, the six-team AMCC tournament will be held in Johnstown, PA at the Point Stadium on May 7-10. "I think we have a talented group of guys who all love to win," said senior outfielder, Chase Palmer. "I am most excited for the opportunity to compete and the chance help to contribute."
Prior to winning last season's AMCC crown, Behrend won the 2023 ECAC Championship, the 2022 AMCC regular season championship, and the 2021 AMCC Conference Tournament.
"We are looking forward to the upcoming season," said head coach Paul Benim. "We return a very nice group that remains hungry. We expect our team to work very hard, meet the competitive challenges head on, and play our best baseball late in the season."
