FORT PIERCE, Fla. – The Penn State Behrend baseball team registered a 3-2 win over Merchant Marine behind strong pitching performances on Friday.

Key Moments:
* The Lions plated two runs in the first inning on a pair of wild pitches
* This was the only scoring for either team in six innings as starters Andrew Bredel (Clinton, PA/Burgettstown) and Cody White shut down both offenses
* Behrend extended its lead to 3-0 with Thomas Nicely (Delmont, PA/Franklin Regional) scoring on a passed ball in the seventh inning
* Merchant Marine cut its deficit to one (3-2) with a two-run double off the bat of Christian Gamez in the bottom of the eighth
* Senior Joe Lang (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) came in out of the bullpen and stranded the tying run at second with a strikeout
* Lang picked up his second save of the season, throwing a scoreless ninth inning
* Bredel tossed six scoreless innings, only allowing two hits and two walks with five strikeouts
