Behrend Bats Breakout in Spring Break Finale

FORT PIERCE, Fla. – The Penn State Behrend baseball team recorded 15 hits in an 8-2 win over Wheaton (Ill.) in the spring break finale on Saturday.

* Senior Chase Palmer (Brookville, PA/Brookville) delivered an RBI double down the left field line to open the game's scoring in the top of the second
* Wheaton plated a run on a Behrend error in the bottom half of the inning to knot the score at one
* A Paul Connolly (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) RBI single and defensive miscue by the Thunder added two more runs to the Lions lead (4-1) in the third inning
* Behrend extended its advantage in the seventh on a Wheaton wild pitch and Jacob Wessel (Belle Vernon, PA/Belle Vernon) RBI single
* Daniel Boehme (Peters Township, PA/Seton LaSalle) scored and drove in a run in the eighth and ninth innings to help secure the Lions eighth win of the season
* Behrend starter Colin Bolla (Fairview, PA/Fairview) hurled eight innings, scattering seven hits, two walks, 10 strikeouts, and one run with that run being unearned
* Spencer Deitz (Erie, PA/McDowell) finished 3-for-4 with a run-batted in, while Boehme, Palmer, Mac Ciocco (Venetia, PA/Peters Township), and David Gibson (North East, PA/North East) all tallied two hits for the Lions
* For the Thunder, James Scott and Payton McClowry each had two hits on Saturday
