ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Penn State Behrend baseball team dropped a non-conference matchup at Mount Union, 14-6, on Wednesday.

* The Lions got on the board first in the top of the first with an RBI groundout from Mac Ciocco (Venetia, PA/Peters Township)
* Mount Union struck for three runs in the bottom half of the inning on an error by Behrend and two-run single from Chris Tsouras
* Behrend knotted the score at three on a two-out RBI single off the bat of Tyler Burick (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) in the top of the second inning
* The Purple Raiders once again responded in the bottom half of the inning, this time plating five runs with the big blows being a pair of bases clearing hits from Alex Stegman and Daniel Tome III
* In the bottom of the third, Mount Union tacked on three more runs to extend its lead to 11-3
* Burick recorded his first collegiate homer and Ciocco drove in another run in the fifth inning to put the Lions within five runs (11-5)
* However, the Purple Raiders scored a run in the sixth and two runs in the eighth to secure their sixth win of the season
* Behrend was led by Burick's two hits and four runs batted in, while Jake Manedo (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Prep), Alec Greenblatt (Oliveburg, PA/Punxsutawney), and Joe Lang (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) combined for 3.2 scoreless innings out of the bullpen
* Johnny Castello tallied a game-high three hits and Stegman and Tome III delivered three RBIs each for the Purple Raiders
* Mount Union reliever Anthony Warner threw 4.1 scoreless innings with one hit allowed to earn his first save of the season
