Bio

Jake Deitz enters his fifth season as an assistant coach at Penn State Behrend. Over the past four seasons, Behrend has compiled a 113–55–1 record under his tenure on staff.

In the most recent 2025–26 season, Deitz helped lead the Lions to a 30+ win campaign, capturing both the AMCC Regular Season and AMCC Tournament Championships while advancing to the NCAA Regional Tournament. Offensively, the program ranked among the nation’s elite, finishing 8th in batting average (.346), 10th in doubles (113), and 28th in runs per game (9.2). Behrend also produced 11 All-AMCC selections.

During the 2024–25 season, the Lions continued their championship standard with another 30+ win year, again winning both the AMCC Regular Season and Tournament titles. The team earned an NCAA Tournament victory and ranked 6th nationally in batting average (.343) while finishing 15th in doubles per game (2.36). The roster featured 11 All-AMCC honorees.

In the prior season, Behrend posted a 29-win campaign highlighted by an AMCC Tournament Championship and an NCAA Regional Tournament win over a top 5 nationally ranked opponent. The offense ranked 25th nationally in batting average (.324) and produced nine All-AMCC selections.

A former player at Behrend, Deitz was a five-year member of the Lions baseball program and a three-time team captain. Appearing in over 100 games, he spent the majority of his career as a catcher while also contributing at second base and as a designated hitter. He was part of the 2021 AMCC Championship team that advanced to the NCAA Tournament, where Behrend earned wins over No. 17 NC Wesleyan and Rochester, and he later helped capture the 2022 AMCC Regular Season title.

Deitz graduated from Penn State Behrend in 2023 with a degree in Secondary Education in Mathematics.
