Lions Get Back On Track With 30 Point Win

ERIE, Pa. - Russ Conley (Transfer, PA/Reynolds) and Nick DeLisio (Aliquippa, PA/Central Valley) combined for 40 points on Sunday evening helping the Lions defeat Penn State Altoona, 81-51 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) men's basketball action.

Behrend dominated the boards, holding a 37-25 advantage and shot 50 percent from the floor for the third consecutive game.

The Lions (8-9, 7-4 AMCC) got off to a fast start with DeLisio and Nick Thorsen (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park) cashing in two threes.  Casey Courneen (Sewickley, PA/Quaker Valley) got in on the action draining a triple at the 14:14 mark to give Behrend the early momentum.

With eight minutes remaining in the opening stanza, Conley and DeLisio scored the final 18 points for the Lions.  Behrend took a 37-26 halftime lead.

Early in the second 20 minutes, the duo of Conley and DeLisio continued where they left off, netting Behrend's first six points of the half.  After another Thorsen three-pointer, Conley finished an 11-4 run with a layup.

After the two teams traded baskets, Omar Berry hit a layup to cut the deficit to 16.  The Lions came back strong over the next four minutes though with Conley hitting two free throws to cap off a 14-2 run.

Now up by 28, Behrend answered every Altoona basket to secure the victory.

Conley finished with a game-high 22 points and eight rebounds.  DeLisio put up 18 points for the second consecutive game to go along with four steals.

The Lions forced 19 turnovers and did not allow a single player to score in double figures.

Behrend will be back in action on Wednesday.  The Lions will travel to Hilbert with tip-off scheduled for 6 p.m.
