Lions Cruise Past Pitt-Greensburg

ERIE, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend men's basketball team defeated Pitt-Greensburg, 61-37 on Saturday afternoon in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action.
The Lions (11-10, 10-5 AMCC) held AMCC Preseason Player of the Year, David Palmer to just six points.
Behrend started the first half strong, getting out to a 10-0 lead in the first four minutes. Russ Conley (Transfer, PA/Reynolds) scored six of the first ten to open the game. After building a big lead, the Lions turned to the defense for the rest of the opening stanza.
The defense dominated the entire first half with Behrend allowing only 14 first half points. The Lions took a 32-14 lead into the break.
As the second half started, Behrend once again started out fast. Nick DeLisio (Aliquippa, PA/Central Valley) drained two threes with the second capping off an 8-0 run. The Lions continued to rely on good shooting and defense to secure the easy victory.
Conley led all scorers with 17 points and nine rebounds. Nick Thorsen (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park) chipped in eight points and five rebounds.
Behrend forced 17 turnovers and won the battle of the boards 34-26.
The Lions will be back in action on Wednesday. Behrend will travel to Pitt-Bradford for a tip-off set for 6 p.m.
