Lions Fall to Wooster in NCAA Tournament

WOOSTER, Ohio – The Penn State Behrend men's basketball season came to an end on Saturday after falling to No. 20 Wooster 62-44 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Seniors Russ Conley (Transfer, PA/Reynolds) and Pat St. Andrews (State College, PA/State College) led the way with 15 and 11 points, respectively.  Fellow senior Adam Palcic (Greensburg, PA/Greensburg Central Catholic) pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.

The two teams played evenly for most of the first half, but a 19-7 run by the Fighting Scots midway through the opening stanza swung the momentum.  The Lions battled back but still trailed by 12 at the break.

With the second half underway, Wooster continued to build on their lead.  The Fighting Scots started the second twenty on a 7-0 run and held Behrend scoreless until the 16:39 mark.  The Lions offense went cold, only scoring four points by the 12:37 mark of the second half.

At the 5:43 mark, Behrend started to make a run at a comeback with seven straight points, but it was too little too late as Wooster controlled the game and earned the victory.

The Lions finished the season with a 20-9 record.
