Mavericks Upend Men's Basketball

ERIE, Pa. – Jammal Coleman scored 20 points and Medaille controlled the action throughout in a 76-55 victory over the Penn State Behrend men's basketball team on Saturday afternoon at the Junker Center.

Keith Wallace (Erie, PA/Central Tech) opened the game with a layup for the Lions (5-2, 2-1 AMCC) but it would turn out to be their only lead of the contest.  The Mavericks employed a stifling defense that held Behrend to just 31.1 percent from the floor.

Wallace finished with eight points and six rebounds.

Coleman, Robby Seyler, and Chris Willingham each had three three-pointers for Medialle (2-6, 2-1 AMCC), who finished 10-for-21 as a team from beyond the arc. The hot shooting helped the Mavs open up an 18 point halftime lead. It was a lead from which they would never look back.

Nick Delisio (Aliquippa, PA/Central Valley) added 11 points on 2-of-4 shooting from beyond the arc. His second three cut the Mavericks' lead to 16 with 16:30 left, but that would be as close as Behrend would get.

Zane Hackett (Brookville, PA/Brookville) earned his second career double double with 12 points and 12 boards. Ten of the sophomore's 12 rebounds were of the offensive variety. Hackett has now scored in double figures in all seven of the Lions games this season.

Shane Skelly (Westlake, OH/Westlake) added 10 points and six rebounds for the Lions, who lost a conference game for the first time this season. Wes Davic (Grafton, OH/Midview) scored six points and was a perfect 4-of-4 from the charity stripe.

Saturday's defeat snapped a 10 game winning streak for Behrend at the Junker Center dating back to last season.

With final exams approaching, the Lions won't take the floor again until December 29 at 6 p.m. That game will be in the Case Western Holiday Tournament against Bethany.
