Lions Offense Too Much For Franciscan

ERIE, Pa – The Penn State Behrend men's basketball team moved to 7-3 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action, defeating Franciscan 91-51 Saturday afternoon.

Five different Lions (12-5, 7-3 AMCC) reached double-digits, including Justin Gorny (South Park, PA/South Park) who scored a career-high 19 points to lead all scorers. The sophomore forward shot a perfect 3-for-3 from three-point range and added six rebounds.

Kevin Scuilli (McKees Rocks, PA/Montour) also recorded a career-high after draining two three's and scoring eight points.

Malquan Pullium (Erie, PA/Strong Vincent) pulled down a team-high seven rebounds and added 14 points. Andy Niland (Fairview, PA/Fairview) shot 67.7 percent from the field and added 16 while Dan Wanker (Pittsburgh, PA/South Park) added 11 points and six boards.

Gorny started the game hot right off the bat, putting Behrend up 3-0 after draining his first of three three's. The Barons (1-15, 1-9 AMCC) kept the game close for the first 10 minutes of action before the Lions started gradually pulling away. Behrend ended the first half going on a 13-4 run, giving them a comfortable 16 point lead, 47-31.

The Lions finished the half shooting 68.0 percent (17-for-25). Gonry led first-half scoring with 14 points.

Behrend continued to pressure Franciscan in the second half. The Barons never came within more than 14 points of the Lions for the remainder of the game. The Behrend defense held Franciscan to just six points during the final 10 minutes while going on a 26-6 run to finish the game.

The Lions shot 57.6 percent as a team and drained 11 three-pointers. Franciscan shot just 36.0 percent, including only 22.7 percent in the second half.

Behrend will be back in action at home this Wednesday against D'Youville at 8 p.m.
