Golfers Take Fourth at Pitt-Bradford Invitational

BRADFORD, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's golf team placed fourth out of 13 teams at the Pitt-Bradford Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Lions, competing in their first invitational of the fall season, carded a 331 as a team.

Thiel won the invitational with a score of 307, followed by Penn State Altoona in second (323) and Elmira in third (328).

Nicholas VanDamia (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) led Behrend, tying for 10th overall with a team-low score of 80. Cody Stinson (Harborcreek, PA/Harbor Creek) came in second on the squad with an 82 to tie for 15th place.

On the "A" team, Ryder Gringol (Erie, PA/McDowell) carded an 84 for his first collegiate outing to place third on the team, while Ryan Matlock (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Prep) and Alex Shindledecker (Erie, PA/McDowell) tied with an 85 for fourth and fifth on the team.

Behrend's second team fired a 336 on the day for 18-holes. Leading the way was Dalton Zelasco (Meadville, PA/Meadville) with an 81. Sophomore Sean Sculley (Waterford, PA/Mercyhurst Prep) was second for the Lions with an 83. Zac McCue (Prospect, PA/Slippery Rock) and Troy McGregor (Oil City, PA/Oil City) both shot an 86. Drew Sorenson (Corry, PA/Corry) completed the five golfers and finished with a 90.

Behrend returns to action on Sunday, September 13 at the Allegheny Invitational.
