Matlock Leads Golfers at Spartan Shootout

FORESTVILLE, NY – Ryan Matlock (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Prep) won his first collegiate invitational, shooting a team-low 82 to help the Penn State Behrend men's golf team capture the Spartan Shootout hosted by D'Youville on Friday afternoon.

The Lions finished with a score of 354 to edge Pitt-Bradford for first place. The Panthers were two strokes behind Behrend with 356 and Medaille came in third at 362. Hilbert followed in fourth (371) and the Spartans tallied a 412.

In addition to Matlock, Ryder Gringol (Erie, PA/McDowell) and Zac McCue (Prospect, PA/Slippery Rock) were in the Top 10. Gringol came in fifth place with an 86 score and McCue tallied a 90 for ninth place.

Travis Becker (Harmony, PA/Seneca Valley) and Dalton Zelasco (Meadville, PA/Meadville) recorded a 96 and 98, respectively, to round out the Lions' five golfers. Becker took 15th place and Zelasco tied for 17th.

Behrend returns to action on Sunday, September 13 at the Allegheny Invitational.
