Golfers Place Seventh at ECAC Championships

ROCHESTER, NY – The Penn State Behrend men's golf team placed seventh out of 12 teams with a score of 639 at the ECAC Division III Mid-Atlantic Championships held at Ravenwood Golf Club over the weekend.

St. John Fisher won the championship with a best score of 583 (292-291). St. Lawrence was tied for second with Marywood with a 617 (312-305). The Lions were in fifth place after day one with a score of 317 and then returned with a 322 on day two for seventh overall.

Nicholas VanDamia (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) tied for 19th overall with a two-day total of 156. The senior carded a 78 on both days for the par 72 course.

Ryan Matlock (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Prep) and Alex Shindledecker (Erie, PA/McDowell) tied for 30th place. Matlock started with an 81 on Saturday and took two strokes off for a 79 today for a 160. Shindledecker tallied the same score for the championships. He had the best score for Behrend on day one with a 76. He finished with an 84 on the second day.

Tied for 41st was Sean Sculley (Waterford, PA/Mercyhurst Prep) behind a total of 163 for 36 holes. He posted an 82 before carding an 81 on day two. Cody Stinson (Harborcreek, PA/Harbor Creek) was the fifth and final golfer for the Lions. He finished 54th overall with a 170 (85-85).

Behrend returns to action tomorrow at the Hilbert Invitational.
