VanDamia Leads Men's Golf at Hilbert Invitational

HAMBURG, NY – The Penn State Behrend men's golf team won their second tournament this fall, capturing the Hilbert Invitational with a low score of 314 on Monday afternoon.

For the third straight day of golf, Nicholas VanDamia (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) led the Lions with a team-best 72 and even par which also earned him overall medalist for the invitational. Austin Ford from Medaille was second with a 74.

The Lions had a 13 stroke lead over second-place Penn State Altoona with a score of 327, while Medaille placed third with a 330 total.

Sean Sculley (Waterford, PA/Mercyhurst) and Cody Stinson (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) tied for sixth overall and second on the team with a 79 to put three Behrend golfers in the Top 10.

Alex Shindledecker (Erie, PA/McDowell) posted an 84 on the day to tie for 11th place and Ryan Matlock (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Prep) earned 16th overall with an 87 for the course.

The Lions return to action on Sunday at the AMCC Championships at the Avalon Lakes Golf & Country Club in Warren, Ohio.
