Lions Set Pace at AMCC Championships

WARREN, Ohio – The Penn State Behrend men's golf team had three of the five golfers in the Top 10 to take the lead with a score of 320 after the first day of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championships held at Avalon Lakes & Country Club on Sunday.

The Lions hold a 12 stroke lead over second place Pitt-Greensburg. The Bobcats tallied a 332 along with Penn State Altoona. Pitt-Bradford sits fourth at 345 and Medaille is fifth with a team score of 347.

Alex Shindledecker (Erie, PA/McDowell) paces Behrend and the field of 44 golfers with a low score of 77 for the course. Cody Stinson (Harborcreek, PA/Harbor Creek) is tied for second with Zach Spicer of Pitt-Bradford with a season-low total of 78.

Ryan Matlock (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Prep) is third on the team and tied for ninth with Jared Wood of Altoona with an 82.

The returning AMCC Individual Champion, Nicholas VanDamia (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf), is tied for 11th with two other golfers with a score of 83.

Sean Sculley (Waterford, PA/Mercyhurst) is the fifth and final golfer for the Lions, tying for 19th place with an 86.

Behrend returns to action tomorrow for the second day of the AMCC Championships.
