Men's Golf Takes Second at Carnegie Mellon Fall Invite

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's golf team finished out the fall season with a second-place finish out of six squads at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational held on Thursday afternoon.

The Lions carded a 325 for runner up while the hosts took home the trophy with a low score of 307 thanks to having the top three golfers at the tournament. Point Park earned third with a 328 and St. Vincent carded a 336 for fourth.

Cody Stinson (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) tied for fifth overall to lead Behrend. He finished with a 41 and a 39 on the back for an 80 overall. Ryan Matlock (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst) took eighth place and was second on the team with an 81. He tallied a 42 on the front and tied Stinson on the back with a 39.

Sean Sculley (Waterford, PA/Mercyhurst) and Alex Shindledecker (Erie, PA/McDowell) tied for ninth overall with an identical score of 82. Sculley hit 43-39 and Shindledecker had the best front-nine score with 40 and then came back around for a 42.

Dalton Zelasco (Meadville, PA/Meadville), competing in just his sixth round of the season, the freshman tallied a 90 (48-42) to place 27th for the Lions final golfer.
